Founded in 1853, Ansonia Copper and Brass has consistently delivered quality metal alloy products to customers across the globe.   The business has been forced to adapt itself many times over the years to meet changing market needs as well as general economic conditions.  However, one market in particular has remained a constant throughout the past 70 plus years, shipboard tubing for the US Navy.While the tubing division of ACB has supplied many different alloys for many different applications, copper-nickel tube for USN amphibious assault vessels has been our largest and most successful tubing market.

A New Name; A Reborn Spirit

One hundred and forty four years after its founding, a reborn, refreshed and renamed corporation – Ansonia Specialty Metals,  has emerged from a melting pot of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures with its long and proud heritage of craftsmanship intact.  Along the Naugatuck River in Waterbury, Connecticut, the company maintains a mill site where engineered tubular products are produced from a variety of alloys. Over 100 employees work at this location.

Ansonia Copper & BrassAnsonia Specialty Metals manufactures and sells semi-finished products which then undergo additional manufacturing operations by its customers prior to use. Machining, forging, cold heading, cold forming, electrical, conductivity, welding, stamping, redrawing and threading are some of the processes used to turn Ansonia’s semi-finished products into final end products.

All of the company’s products conform to American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards. Ansonia also produces to military, federal and unique customer specifications and requirements as needed.

At Ansonia Specialty Metals, we provide a variety of alloys and specialized metals for the Oil & Gas Industry. Our tubes are 100% made in the USA. Through our extrusion process we are able to offer quality tubular products with high levels of concentricity and tight dimensional tolerances.  Our refined grain structure allows for superior mechanical properties and improved machinability.

Standard Sizes and Custom Development
ASM maintains a die inventory of standard sizes for the production of common industry tube dimensions.  ASM also develops custom size dies to respond to client demands for custom sized tubes for repeat parts.  Custom sizes results in both material savings and reduction in machining time.

Tube vs. Bar
ASM has a long history of product innovation with a wide array of alloys.  ASM has developed tube solutions for alloys heretofore exclusively available in bar form.  Our domestically sourced billet can be secured in customized chemistries to meet customer specifications and achieve leading physical properties.
